Rust-Resistant Outdoor Lighting Fixtures

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

We are looking to buy some outdoor lighting fixtures?that preferably have a brass finish to match the door and window trim but will not rust.? We thought our current outdoor wall sconces and post lanterns would do that since they were listed as solid brass with a polished brass finish. However, after only 3 years, there are obvious signs of rust on those lights.

Please help us understand what type of light we should be selecting to ensure our outdoor lights will be permanently rust-free.

Answer:
We asked our manufacturer about the rust issue. They said outdoor lanterns with the polish brass finish will rust eventually. Some might start to show signs of corrosion as early as within 1 year. It depends on the type of environment the lights are in. If you want a lantern that will be permanently rust-free, you may try?a manufacturer called Baldwin Hardware.

Obviously, there is a caveat. A typical outdoor lantern cost $50 will cost around $300 - $500 if it’s made by Baldwin.

Lighting Fixtures To Satisfy Title 24

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

Do you have any dimmable, fluorescent flush-mount ceiling lights? Are there any particular bulbs that are dimmable? Any other way to satisfy Title 24 requirements?

Answer:

To satisfy Title 24, just fluorescent light fixtures would suffice. It’s not that practical to dim a fluorescent light since the effect is not very desirable. We currently do not offer dimmable fluorescent fixtures.

If the light fixture is going to be for your bedroom, dining room, hallways, or stairways, you can use incandescent ceiling lights with a manual-on/automatic occupant senor, or a dimmer, as an alternative to satisfy Title 24. Customers usually go with the dimmer option, as the automatic sensor becomes annoying some times when the lights turn themselves off while people are still in the room but not making detectable movements.

Craftmade Ceiling Fans

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

I have two Craftmade celing fans. They have a cup on the lower side. When dismanteled there is a connection with wires and clips together and you can push and release these and it comes apart. I do not see a model number on these fans. The fans are white five blade fans. My questions is, can these fans have light attachments / light kits Where can I look for a model # for further assistance?

Answer:
From what you described, your ceiling fans should be light kit adaptable. To find out about your Craftmade ceiling fan model number, you will have to find a way to look at the top of the ceiling fan motor housing. There should be a gold sticker / tab with red text that tells you the Craftmade model number and also a CII number (Craftmade’s internal number); or if you can email us a picture of your ceiling fans, we may be able to determine the Craftmade model of your fans and make sure they are indeed light kit adaptable.

Track Lighting Question

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

Question:

I want to buy eight NTL-2201 track lights.? Do I need the NTL- 2200 electronic transformer for each track head?
Or can I use one transformer for all eight track lights?

Answer:

If you are buying the NTL-2201 track light, you would need one NTL-2200 track light transformer “for each” track light. A more economical solution for you would be to purchase the NTL-201 low voltage track light, which comes with an integral transformer. The?track light?can be found here: http://www.arcadianlighting.com/ntl-201.html

RL-54-C Vanity / Bathroom Light

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

Question:?

The RL-54-C Vanity / Bathroom Light looks like it has 4 different shades of lamp.? (kind of a greenish hue)? Is this accurate or is it just the way it looks on my screen?

It actually has to do with how the picture was taken. The bathroom light shades do not have any greenish hue. They come in the same color.?You can click on the thumbnail image to see a better representation of the shades. Nora Track Lighting Replacement

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

I have a restaurant with Nora Lighting ntl-203 track light with?12v mr16 lamp type 50 watts. Need replacement transformers for fixtures in base of mount. If it’s not available, is there a?similar type / make track fixture?

Answer:
You will need to purchase the complete track head. It’s impractical to try to replace just the transformer, since?it’s difficult for us to just get the transformer, you run the risk of the light fixture not working properly, and you would incur additional labor trying to switch out the transformer. Track lights are fairly inexpensive.?Therefore, we only sell the complete track light fixture. We offer the Nora Lighting NTL-203 track light here: http://www.arcadianlighting.com/ntl-203.html

Torchiere Lamp issue

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

I have a torchiere lamp that uses “Long Life 55 watt 2D Bulb”. The lamp was not going on when I turned it on, but would eventually light. Then one day, it didn’t go on at all, so I changed the bulb. It still doesn?t light when I turn it on, but many hours later will pop on. Any ideas as to what could cause this behavior?

Answer:
The problem should be the ballast. With that type of bulb, it works together with a ballast, which is the component that kicks start the bulb when you turn the lamp on. It might have aged out or became defective. There is also a slight possibility that the switch is the problem, but it’s more likely that the ballast is the culprit. Unfortunately, we do not supply components to lamps not sold by, nor purchased from?us. You probably have to look elsewhere if you want to attempt to repair the lamp.
