Maxim Lighting Lamp Post Accessories

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

I am assuming that the Maxim Lighting Outdoor Post Lantern Light Model# MX-30010-CD-BB does not come with a lamp post. Do you offer a matching lamp post? Is there an option for this post to come with an electrical outlet? Does this post come with a mounting bracket for the cement footer?

Answer:
The lamp post that we recommend for the model you are interested in is Maxim Lighting’s MX-1092. It comes in the Barcelona Bronze finish, however it is not currently listed as an option on our site, so you would have to request that finish. We will add that finish option for that lamp post to our site soon.

Unfortunately, we do not have lamp posts that include an electrical outlet. This model does arrive with a mounting bracket. Please note that not all lamp posts come with mounting brackets.

Kitchen Island Lighting / Billard Lighting

The Access Lighting Kitchen Island Lighting Model# AC-50503Are the lengths of the lights adjustable? If not, how far do they hang below the fixture?

Answer:
The length of most ceiling lights are adjustable, including this Onyx Steel Wrap Contemporary Kitchen Island / Billiard Light. You can pull the cord so it doesn’t hang so low. The lights hang 120″ and within that it can be adjusted to any height.

Enclosed Ceiling Light Fixture?

Friday, June 9th, 2006

I was hoping to light a master bedroom’s closet utilizing the Access Lighting Luna (l) Contemporary Flush Mount Ceiling Light (AC-50070) from your ceiling lights section. It turns out that I need an enclosed light fixture (one that encloses the bulbs). Would this ceiling light fixture be unsuitable for that use? It would be a code violation if the bulb were left exposed.

Answer: The bulb is completely covered by the shade on this contemporary ceiling light. Unfortunately, this item is not in stock at this time. We expect this light to become available around the end of June. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Pagoda Landscape Lighting and Landscape Lighting Transformer

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

The Dabmar LV-128 Pagoda landscape lighting fixture - Are you sure this is available in bronze? When I order this fixture, I am assuming that it comes with the 12″ stake and mounting bracket, again all in bronze. Also the Model# SPJ-NP-600-1222-SS landscape lighting transformer, I am assuming this is 2×300W. Please confirm.

Answer: The LV-128 landscape pagoda light does come in Bronze and the 12″ pole is also in Bronze. Base material is Cast Aluminum. The bottom of the pole is actually attached to the plastic PVC spike that goes into the ground. Please note that the pedestal mount on our website picture is not accurate; that was only for photo shoot purposes.

As for the SPJ-NP-600-1222-SS, it is just one 600W, 4 ports  transformer, not 2×300W.

Replacing Ceiling Lighting Fixtures

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

When replacing ceiling light fixtures, I noticed there are 3 wires in a ceiling junction box - one black, one white and one red. The new light fixture only has a black, white and a ground wire. I know how to connect the black and white ones to the new fixture. Can you tell me how the red one should be connected? Thanks for your help.

Answer: For majority of the cases, where are two scenarios where you will find 3 wires in an electrical junction box. The first scenario is for wall electrical junction boxes - Usually when there are 3 wires in a wall electrical box, it’s for a 3-way switch where you can wire it so that 2 switches at different locations control the same light fixture. The second scenario is for a ceiling electrical box. It is mostly used for ceiling fans, where one of the 3 wires is to be connected to the ceiling fan and the other to the light that may be present in the fan. The one remaining wire is the neutral wire. It might also be used for 2-circuit track lights or 2-circuit monorail lighting system. We suggest you consult with an electrician to find what purpose the red wire serves and how is it connected to your switches.

Access Lighting Zig Nido Comtemporary Floor Lamp

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

Regarding the Access Lighting Zig Nido floor lamp from your contemporary floor lamps section, what type of light bulb does this take?

Answer: The lamp is T3 type Double Ended Tubular Halogen 120V, 100W. The one that you need is the shorter type, 78mm. I believe you should be able to get these at HomeDepot, Ace Hardware stores, etc. Double-Ended Tubular Halogen Bulb has a RSC base, T3 can come in either 2 lengths: 78mm (3 1/8″) or 188mm (4 11/16″). Wattages available on the 78mm model vary from 75 - 250 watt, and on the 118mm model they vary from 75 - 500 watt.
