Kenroy lighting wall sconce lamping question

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Can you tell me the wattage of each bulb for this Pegasus Contemporary Wall Mount Task Lamp (KR-34144-BS)? And is the head of this lighting fixture adjustable?

Answer: This wall sconce has a 50W capacity according to Kenroy (the manufacturer). As for the heads, they apparently have a swivel which allows them to be adjusted. We do hope this is helpful.

Craftmade outdoor flush mount ceiling light finish

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I am interested in purchasing the Craftmade Mission Series Outdoor Flush Mount Ceiling Light – CM-Z1843 but I need a finish to match our lighting fixtures which is black/bronze. Can you please tell me if the color of this ceiling light would clash or match with my existing light fixtures?

Answer: Unfortunately, there is no finish for this Craftmade outdoor flush mount ceiling light that can match the bronze finish. The closest finish to bronze is the Burnish Copper, but that has a very dark tone, almost like black and doesn’t have much of brown tint to them.

Question regarding sola rail kit by Tech lighting

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I recently purchased Sola Rail Kit. I would like to bend the track into a “wave” pattern. I had the idea to cut the pattern out on a sheet of plywood (creating a template), and then bend the track around the edge of the template. My question is, will this work? And how can I create an even line when I am drawing out the “wave” stencil. If I draw it freehand I know I won’t be happy with the result.

Answer: In general, your methodology should work because you are bending the rail against the round surface area (so there should not have any kink). If you would like to confirm this, you can also call Tech / Tiella Lighting technical support directly at toll free 800-522-531.

Dabmar landscape lighting mounting stake

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I am interested in purchasing CF Outdoor Spotlights to be used in an outdoor court yard. As the lights will be used to light a wall. I am looking for lights that will be mounted in the ground. When looking at some of the photos of the Outdoor Flood Light (DM-DF-5970), it is mounted in the ground, but other photos do not show the light with a mounting stake. Does this landscape lighting fixture include a mounting ground stake or is the ground stake an option?

Answer: The rocket post / stake for 120V needs to be ordered separately. It’s Dabmar Landscape Lighting Line Voltage Rocket Post – LV-S6.

Nora lighting recessed light inquiry

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I’d like to purchase (4) Nora Lighting 6” IC Sloped Ceiling Recessed Light Housing (NHIC-926QAT) for my cathedral ceiling. The slope however, is a 6 1/2 / 12. The spec calls for a maximum slope of 6/12. Will these recessed lights still work? I assume that if this 6” IC Baffled Eyeball Trim (NTM-39) is used with the above housing, will cast light directly down on the floor?

Answer: We have verified with Nora Lighting – the manufacturer that using the recessed trim (NTM-39) with recessed light housing (NHIC-926QAT) will not be able to allow you cast light vertically down on the floor. The 6.5 /12 slope is just a bit too steep.

Maxim lighting kitchen island lighting fixture height

Friday, December 28th, 2007

The height of Basix Transitional Island / Kitchen light – MX-10127 states that it’s 33 inches. Was the 33″ for the kitchen island lighting fixture itself without the chain? Or does that include the chain?

Answer: The 33″ refers to the height of this Maxim Lighting kitchen island light and does not account for the 6 feet of chain; it is only up to the point of the body hardware and where the chain begins.

Elk lighting kitchen island / billiard light dimension

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

I have several questions regarding Elk Lighting Nebula Contemporary Kitchen Island / Billiard Light (ELK-3551-3):

1. Was the height adjustable?
2. What is the width and height of the glass tube?
3. Is the 24″ the total width?
4. What is the width between the tubes?

Answer:

1. With the 3′ 6″ cord, the maximum height is 5 feet, and you can adjust to a shorter length on the field.
2. For the height and width dimension of the glass tube. It is 19″ H x 2.25″ W (outer shade) and 7.785″ H x 1.1875″ W (inner shade).
3. The total width is measured based on the rectangular canopy dimension. It’s about 24″ L x 5.5″ W x 1″ H.
4. The distance between the cord is 10.25″.

Question regarding Tiella sola rail kit

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Hi. I’d like to use the Tiella Sola Rail Kit (800RAL5) with a dimmer. The Tiella installation guide says that it can be used with a standard incandescent dimmer. What I’d like to do is have a 150w track kit (with 7 – 20 watt Sola lamps) and a 100w track (2 Terra pendant lights) switched to a single gang box and also be dimmable. Enter the Lutron’s Dual Dimmer switch (MA-L3L3-WH). Can this work? Can you explain Tiella saying it is ok to use with a standard incandescent dimmer but most switch manufacturers say that a low voltage electronic dimmer must be used? I really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks in advance.

Answer: You can still use the regular incandescent dimmer to control the electronic transformer for the Tiella Sola Rail Kit. The only minor disadvantage is that you might run into a higher risk of shortening the lifespan of the electronic transformer because it takes a bigger toll on the transformer when you run it with incandescent dimmer. We are also told by our sales rep for Tech / Tiella Lighting that during the last 8 years of her service, she did NOT have any problems when a customer uses incandescent dimmer. Of course, you can always use the low voltage electronic dimmer if you don’t mind the higher pricing.

As for the incandescent dimmer itself, its lifespan would not be affected. If you are interested to purchase the Lutron 1p 300w Dualdimmer (MA-L3L3-WH), your cost is $60 apiece, and the Tiella Sola Rail Kit 5 head $217.50.
