Lite Source Mica Table Lamp Dimensions

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

I am interested in purchasing the Lite Source Nightingale-Mica Table Lamp. However, I see that the height of the table lamp is 18″ but I would like to know the width)of the base of the lamp. I hope you can help me with this information.

Answer: The overall width of the lamp body is 5.4″; from edge of lamp shade to the outer curve of the arm. The base of the mica shade is 4.5″ width. We do not have the exact dimension of the lamp base, but it’s approximately 4.5″.

Track Lighting System Formula For Electrical Capacity

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

I am moving a track lighting system at work to a new location and was wondering how many more track lights I can add to the 8ft track. The track has a grounded cord and plugs in to a regular outlet. I currently have three (Nora Lighting Cylinder Low Voltage Track Light - NTL-203) and would like to add two more lights of the exact type. Am I able to add two more and is there a formula for figuring out the electrical capacity of lights, track and outlet power so that I can figure out what my maximum is?

Answer: If it’s just 2 additional track light fixtures to the 8-foot track, then it should not be a problem.

Usually all the electrical outlets around the same area are TIED to the same circuit (ie. all outlets in the same room). In general, each circuit can take a maximum load of 2000W. If all the wattage load from all the electronic devices exceed this limit, then your circuit breaker will jump.

Thus, for 2 more pcs of NTL-203 and assuming you are using 50W MR16 lamp, then you are adding 100W to the whole circuit. Or another way to look at this is 5 track lights x 50W = 250W for the track light.

Suggested Wattage Guideline For Bedroom Or Bathroom Lighting

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

I just ordered some bathroom lighting fixtures from your web site and am planning on ordering several flush mount ceiling light fixtures as well. I’m not sure what the suggested wattage is for a bedroom ceiling fixture or a hallway ceiling light fixture (at the top of the stairs). Two of the bedrooms are about 12 x 14 and one is about 14 x16. If you can provide any guidelines, it would greatly assist me in my selection. Many thanks for your assistance.

Answer: We would suggest at least 200 watts of incandescent lighting for a room of 12 x 14 and 300 watts for a room of 14 x 16. The best kind of lighting mixes several types so that light is evenly dispersed through the room without creating harsh shadows. This may include a mix of ceiling lights, floor lamps, wall sconces, etc. You can also consider to install dimmer switches where you can have more control on the amount of light that you get. As far as regular light fixtures go, their lighting output is limited to the heat dissipation capacity. It is important to keep in mind that wattage does not always dictate how bright the bulb will be. Recently, energy efficient lighting fixtures have gained popularity because of their long term cost savings and also their environmental friendliness; they consume much less electricity but can yield the more than enough brightness. For example, a light fixture with 13W compact fluorescent lamping gives the same brightness as a 60W incandescent light.

Color Of Meyda Tiffany Table Lamp

Monday, March 12th, 2007

I am interested in this Meyda Tiffany (MD-77773) ”Milkcan” table lamp. Is the shade actually the “orange” Mica as pictured or is it more “yellow”?

Answer: The model MD-77773 tiffany style table lamp on our website is lit. In which case you can see the way the light hits the shade and reflects an amber like color. Amber has an orange tint when lit, when turned off it looks a bit darker and has a brownish/orangish tone. In short, the table lamp will is more orange than yellow.

The Meyda Tiffany Mica shade is very thin and is made of lead glass. Some of our previous customers have confused it with plastic, however it is not plastic. The lamp itself is very elegant and simple.

Tech Lighting Mini Pendant Lights

Friday, March 9th, 2007

I have a few questions about this Tech Lighting Mini Ovation Contemporary Pendant Light -  700FJMOV

  1. What parts are included with the pendant light?
  2. Is the Cable included?
  3. How long is the cable? I need only 2 feet of cable.
  4. Is the Tech Lighting 4” Round Flush Canopy (700FJ4RF) the correct component to order for mono-light installation of this pendant light?

Answer: The Tech Lighting Mini Ovation pendant light is supplied with 6 ft of field-cuttable cable. So, if you would like only two feet of cable, you will be able to cut the cable to that specified length. This pendant light is also provided with the halogen bi-pin bulb.

700FJ4RF is the correct model number if you would like to have the pendant light hanging from the ceiling independently from any other pendant lights. The transformer is supplied with the canopy. It transforms the standard 120V down to 12V. If you are interested in line-voltage pendant lights (120 volts), you may want to look at the Ovation Contemporary Pendant Light by 2Thousand Degrees.

LBL Lighting Icicle Pendant Lights Hung In Clusters?

Friday, March 9th, 2007

We are interested in the LBL Lighting Icicle pendant light (HS277) and would like to hang 5 pendant lights at varied heights, in one cluster, on a sloped ceiling. Is this possible?

Answer: Yes, you can put all 5 pendant lights on the same canopy.  For the Icicle pendant light, please make sure that you pick the MRL mounting option. The 5-light canopy can be found by clicking here. The default length of the cable on the pendant lights is 8 feet and can be field-shorten, allowing you to hang those light fixtures at different heights. The pendant light canopy will work for sloped ceiling.

Tech Lighting Tiella Compatibility

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I have a Tiella Model #800RALHDW150N monorail lighting kit by Tech Lighting and I want to add 4 Maya fixture heads to that track. Will the 800RLMYA fit that track? I plan on using 35 watt lamps which would total 140 watts on the 150 watt canopy transformer.

Answer: As long as your track / monorail lighting system is the same Tiella system by Tech Lighting, then the Tiella Maya fixture will fit. If your monorail system is not Tiella, then you would probably need a FreeJack-compatible rail adapter for your existing monorail lighting system.
