I am interested in the Palazzo contemporary bathroom light. Is it OK to install this light fixture vertically? I notice it has halogen bulbs. Do they emit a lot of heat as compared to incandescent bulbs? Are there any special wiring requirements when installing halogen light fixtures? We are at the stage where we need to place our orders for our light fixtures ASAP, so we would appreciate a prompt reply.
Answer:
Yes, the Designers Fountain Palazzo contemporary bathroom light can be mounted vertically. The glass shades are secured by screws, so it will stay in place. There is no special wiring required. Installation just involves the standard splicing of wires like any light fixtures. T3 Halogen bulb is in the shape of a long tube snapped in place to the ceramic lampholder. They do tend to emit more heat compared to incandescent bulbs.

I purchased a contemporary chandelier from another company and when it arrived it was in hundreds of pieces that needed to be put together. The wires had to be run throughout the arms of the chandelier and every part had to be screwed together. Are your products assembled?
Answer: Some chandeliers based on size may come knocked down, which means it is not assembled. However, for an additional charge the manufacturer will assemble the chandelier and then ship the chandelier straight to you by truck. Most chandeliers would require minor assembly, like securing the shade to the chandelier body, but not to the extent of what you mentioned above. The company that you purchased the chandelier from should have informed you that your purchase was a knocked-down fixture and they should have advised you of the option to have it assembled. It seems that it was assumed you would have an electrician assemble it. For the assembly alone, it is usually less costly to have the manufacturer assemble a knocked-down item together as opposed to paying the and additional charge to an electrician who may charge by the hour. Also, the manufacturer is most familiar with the product, so there is less likely to be any complication with the assembly. However, by having the manufacturer assemble the chandelier, there may be additional shipping charge (as much as $200) due to the large size. Most chandeliers require minor assembly. For larger size chandeliers, a higher percentage are shipped unassembled. It varies product by product.
Here are some brands of chandeliers that we carry:
Please be advised that truck size items are non-returnable.

I am waffling between halogen (easy, flexible, warm etc.) and fluorescent (low energy, save the whales) for a few light fixtures I am interested in. Your no-return policy on the fluorescent light fixtures makes me think that people order them for the same reasons that I would and are disappointed. Is this the case?
Answer: The no return policy pertains to mostly Access Lighting and Troy Lighting light fixtures optional energy-efficient lamping. Light fixtures with energy-efficient lamping as the default option are still returnable should customers not like them. To answer your question, customers do indeed purchase lighting fixtures with fluorescent lamping for energy saving purposes. The no-return policy is not because we get a lot of complaints on energy-efficient light fixtures. In fact, we almost never had a complaint about them. The reason for the no-return policy is because the manufacturers have to custom fit the light fixtures with fluorescent lamping here in the States. They are considered custom-bulit orders. It’s pretty much standard throughout the world that custom-built products are non-returnable, for obvious reasons. We think you will be happy with the energy-efficient lamping.

How hot does this Access Lighting Ibis Contemorary Chandelier get? Also, how long do halogen bulbs last? This is for a lobby where the light fixtures will always be on.
Answer: The Access Lighting Ibis contemporary chandelier does get fairly hot, since it comes with halogen lamping. However, there is no safety concerns since all of the light fixtures and lamps that we sell are either UL or ETL approved. The chandelier gets hot in a sense that you cannot touch the bulb with your bare hands; you will feel the heat a few inches away from the bulb and that’s pretty much it. It will not act as a heater for your lobby, but will contribute to the overall room temperature a tiny bit. Halogen bulbs typically last around 2000 hours. Certain variation of halogen bulbs (Xenon) can last up to 5000 hours.Â

Is the Designers Fountain Vela bathroom light able to accept compact fluorescent bulbs?
Answer: The Designers Fountain Vela bathroom light may accept compact fluorescent bulbs that come with built-in ballasts and have a candelabra base. However, if the bulb is tall, parts of the bulb may show above the shade. That is one thing to keep in mind.
Another alternative is to pick bathroom lights that come with built-in ballasts themselves. A manufacturer that we carry who has bathroom lighting fixtures with compact fluorescent lampings is called Access Lighting. You can also browse our energy efficient lighting section for more selections.

I would like to order the LBL Lighting monorail adjustable angle conductive connectors:
Question 1: Are the single circuit and 2-circuit monorail lighting connectors the same?
Question 2: How many connectors come in a package? Last time I ordered, I ordered “one”, and that was a package that included two connectors .
Answer: The connectors for 1- and 2-circuit are NOT the same. 1-circuit monorails has 2 parallel bars; so 1 order of 1-circuit conductive connectors comes in a 2-piece set. 2-circuit monorails has 3 parrallel bars, so 1 order of 2-circuit connectors come in a 3-piece set. Individual connector pieces are the same, however. Note that LBL Lighting Monorail connectors and Tech Lighting Monorail connectors are different.
