Lighting Fixtures & Lamps Questions Answered

Access lighting compact fluorescent option

I am looking at placing an order for about $1000 with a combination of lights from the Access Lighting Pacific Contemporary collection. I would like more information on the benefits of the compact fluorescent option. Will replacement bulbs be difficult to get? Why does it take an additional two weeks for the option? Is the energy/life span savings significant? Is the lighting fixture the same? I have replaced most of our lights with fluorescent bulbs, but just with replacements from the hardware store. Is there something different about these that makes it take the additional two weeks, and makes them non-returnable? Thanks for any additional information you can get me.

Answer: The reason for the lead time on the compact fluorescent version is because Access Lighting needs to customize your order from existing incandescent fixture. They will change out the socket and add a ballast to convert it from incandescent to compact fluorescent. Because of the customization, these lighting fixtures will not be returnable.

The compact fluorescent version of the Pacific Contemporary Wall Sconce (AC-62054) comes with a 13W Qad lamp G24q-1 base and electronic ballast. These lamps are common at most hardware store. For most compact fluorescent lighting, 13W of lamp’s output is roughly equivalent to 60W of incandescent brightness. Besides less heat generated, you will only using about 1/4 of the electricity of a 60W lamp. Lamp life is about 4 times longer than incandescent lamp.
