Will these Nora Lighting 6” IC Sloped Ceiling Remodel Recessed Light Housing - NHRIC-926QAT and Nora Lighting 6” Sloped Phenolic Stepped Baffle Trim - NTP-614 work on a 12 degree ceiling?

Hello. Our bathroom has been ripped out to the stud walls. Above the bathroom is an attic with a plywood floor. The electrician put in two of the 7 1/2″ housings for recessed lighting in bathrooms but it sticks up through the floor of the attic thereby making that part of the floor unusable. We’ll have to remove the housings (luckily the ceiling is not yet finished) but what can we put up instead? I looked at some of the Nora Lighting housings that were not as tall but am confused about IC/non-IC, acceptable for wet/damp areas, proximity to insulation, etc. Are there any smaller housings that I might use? Do you have any different products that would shed light down on the vanity that do not need such big housings? Thanks for any advice.

Answer: IC and NON IC refers to Insulated Ceilings and Non Insulated Ceilings. There is a precaution to take when your ceilings are insulated in which case you would have to use IC or insulated Ceiling rated housing. One of our smaller housings are about 4″.

Instead of using recessed lighting, you can get a ceiling can adapter and hang pendant lights from the existing holes. Manufacturers like Tech lighting and LBL lighting offer such adapters and pendants.

Can you confirm that this Nora Lighting 6” Remodel Shallow Recessed Light Housing - NHR-27Q is an IC rated housing? This items description doesn’t say either way.

Do you have the dimensions for the LBL Lighting Optika 3” IC Low-Voltage Halogen Recessed Lighting Housing - R3-499ICA? I could not find them on your website or the LBL Lighting website. Thanks.

Answer: The dimension for this recessed light housing are 3.25″ opening x 7.5″H. We hope this information helps.

Right now I have puck lighting on my low ceiling with remote transformer. I want to replace them with shallow recessed lighting like LBL Lighting Optika 3” Shallow Low-Voltage Halogen Recessed Lighting Housing - R3-050. I do have a 4 ” clearance. What exactly do I need to complete a fixture. Do they have compatible decorative glass trims? I am interested in the smaller sized (3″ wide) Thank you.

Answer: You will need to purchase the housing that corresponds with the recessed light that you need. Also, there are trims that you can choose from depending on the recessed light that you choose. First, you will need to look at the housing that you need, I assume this is not a new construction as you are replacing pucks so you will need a “remodel housing” you will also need to choose between IC (insulated ceiling) as the IC housing is rated for direct contact with insulation and combustive materials. If this does not apply to your situation, that you can use standard housing. Another thing to consider is if you are going to use compact fluorescent lighting, incandescent, or low voltage? Also, how many recessed lights will you be implementing? Hope this helps.

Do you have a 4 inch remodel shower recessed housing that can be installed in an insulated ceiling?

Answer: We do have Nora Lighting 4” Compact Fluorescent Electronic Air-Tight IC Recessed Lighting Housing - NHPIC-413ELAT. Please be advised, that this recessed housing by Nora Lighting is in compact fluorescent version. It is actually safer to use because it is not as hot as lets say a low voltage or an incandescent bulb. Also, it can be used with IC remodels.

Hello. I have recessed lights in my family room that are on dimmer switches. They have worked just fine over the years. But I just installed the new low voltage fluorescent light bulbs and they will not work properly. Do I need new light fixtures or just new switches? I would still like them to be on dimmers if that is possible.

Answer: First, we are not sure what kind of fixtures / housing you have. In general, for fluorescent lighting, you need to make sure that the new lamps you got are rated “dimmable” to work with the dimming ballast. Majority of the fluorescent lamps are NOT dimmable, so we would recommend that you buy exactly the same lamps as your old ones.

Does installation of Nora Lighting 8” Commercial Frame-In Recessed Lighting Housing - NH-300 require a trim kit or is this optional? The installation will be in a commercial building.

Answer: Yes. The NL-665W trim can work the NLK-2600, 6″ Low-Voltage MR16 Non-IC Retrofit Kit Recessed Light Housing.

I am hunting (6) 4 inch remodel IC recessed lighting fixtures. I would like to use compact fluorescent bulbs with them. Could I get away with using non-IC fixtures with the fluorescent bulbs since they don’t generate as much heat? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

Answer: Our vendor Nora Lighting has confirmed that they would not recommend to use a NON-IC compact fluorescent fixture to replace the IC fixtures you currently have. For NON-IC, it needs to have min. 3″ of clearance from the thermal insulation. It not, you might not be within building code, and in case if you file claim with the insurance company for any mishaps, they might give you some trouble to approve the claim.

I have seen 5 inch trims accepting a PAR30 that are adjustable and have the bulb recessed (NOT an eyeball fixture). Do you carry such an item? Can you point me to a trim model #?

I have somewhat of an emergency. I need to see if I can fit a NT 5022 shower trim piece into a NS-401QAT recessed housing. I am sure it will take some cutting and adjusting. There was too much space left in the shower ceiling for the correct NS-22W shower trim to cover the tile cuts. I have 4 ceiling lights in the shower and the alternative would be to have the shower ceiling retiled. I know this is below your minium order but I don’t want to order 4 if they are not going to fit. Also, is it possible to send them overnight (FedEx, UPS, etc.)? Thanks for your help.
