Nora lighting trim and recessed housing

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

I have somewhat of an emergency. I need to see if I can fit a NT 5022 shower trim piece into a NS-401QAT recessed housing. I am sure it will take some cutting and adjusting. There was too much space left in the shower ceiling for the correct NS-22W shower trim to cover the tile cuts. I have 4 ceiling lights in the shower and the alternative would be to have the shower ceiling retiled. I know this is below your minium order but I don’t want to order 4 if they are not going to fit. Also, is it possible to send them overnight (FedEx, UPS, etc.)? Thanks for your help.

Answer: Nora Lighting has just confirmed that you can not fit the 5” IC Albalite Shower Trim - NT-5022 into a 4” Designer Recessed Lighting Housing - NS-401QAT.

Nora lighting trim compatibility with the recessed housing

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I’d like to use the 4” Adjustable Chrome Reflector MR16 GU10 Trim - NL-414, using a GU10 bulb. However, I also require an airtight can. The GU-10 can 4” IC Recessed Lighting Housing - NSLIC-401Q-10 isn’t airtight, but the 4” Incandescent Designer IC Recessed Lighting Housing - NSIC-401QAT is. Nora lighitng advised me that I can use a “GU-10 whip” to convert the socket, then use the 4” Incandescent Designer IC Recessed Lighting Housing - NSIC-401QAT with the 4” Adjustable Chrome Reflector MR16 GU10 Trim - NL-414. Before ordering, I would like to confirm the compatibility of the trim choices with fixture. Thanks!

Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. We have double confirmed with Nora Lighting that the NL-414 - trim is compatible with NSIC-401QAT - recessed housing, and that you can use what you called “GU-10 whip” or “Halogen Retrofit Kit” (NRA-37-10) if you want to use MR16 GU-10 bulb.

However, we strongly recommend you go with a low-voltage housing like the 4” Low-Voltage Recessed Lighting Housing - NL-401-SERIES, because the quality of light output of the low-voltage halogen bulb is “a lot” better than the line-voltage halogen (GU10). You also get a better lamp life from low-voltage MR16 bulbs. Hope this answers your question.

Tech lighting recessed can transformer inquiry

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

I have recessed lights that I want to make in to track lights. I thought I had seen an adapter you screwed into the light socket and the then put the track plate over the can and then mounted the track. Is there such a product? Please provide details.

Answer: We believe you are referring to the Tech Lighting Recessed Can Transformer - 700MOREC15E. If so, the recessed can transformer has a 150W integaral transformer. Please see spec sheet that we sent via e-mail to be sure that it’s compatible with your recessed can. The rest of the monorail accesssory are listed here:

Nora lighting halo compatible recessed lights

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

I just installed 6″ shallow depth lighting. I was not sure if these 6″ 100W Open Trim (NT-40) /6″ IC Open Trim (NT-30) would fit in the housing.

Answer: These recessed lights from Nora Lighting (the manufacturer) can only be compatible with Halo-compatible IC housing. If your recessed light housing is not Halo-compatible and rate for insulated ceiling, then these trim will not work.

Nora lighting recessed light inquiry

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I’d like to purchase (4) Nora Lighting 6” IC Sloped Ceiling Recessed Light Housing (NHIC-926QAT) for my cathedral ceiling. The slope however, is a 6 1/2 / 12. The spec calls for a maximum slope of 6/12. Will these recessed lights still work? I assume that if this 6” IC Baffled Eyeball Trim (NTM-39) is used with the above housing, will cast light directly down on the floor?

Answer: We have verified with Nora Lighting - the manufacturer that using the recessed trim (NTM-39) with recessed light housing (NHIC-926QAT) will not be able to allow you cast light vertically down on the floor. The 6.5 /12 slope is just a bit too steep.

Inquiry for recessed lighting trim

Do you have any trim kit for Halo 471 CAT recessed architecture incandescent light? The ID of the can is 8 7/16″ round hole.

Answer: We cannot find the recessed light that you referred to. But it sounds like it’s a 8″ housing. We have a variety of trims for 8″ housings here: http://www.arcadianlighting.com/8-inch-recessed-lighting-trims.htm. If you can provide us with a link to the item you were referring to, we may be able to assist you better.

Nora Lighting recessed light inquiry

I would like to know how many amps does this Nora Lighting 6” IC Recessed Remodel Recessed Light Housing (NHRIC-17QAT) has, because the breaker in the electrical panel that I have is 20 amp. Thank you!

Answer: Your electrical panel with 20 amp will be plenty to supply the recessed lights. Usually 20 amp circuit has a capacity of 2000+ watts, which can power more than 24+ pcs of the Nora Lighting Recessed Light Housing (NHRIC-17QAT).

Answer: We currently don’t have any specification sheet about the 8″ baffle with reflector trim. However, you can search on Nora Lighting to pull up the info about this 8″ trim model. The only information that we can provide is the outer diameter of this recessed lighting trim which is 9″.

Question regarding Nora Lighting’s installation

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Hello. Does this Nora Lighting 5” IC Remodel Recessed Light Housing - NHRIC-504QAT model care if there is insulation around the housing when installed? And, do I have to remove or move the insulation away from the housing?

Answer: For the IC (insulated ceiling) model of Nora Lighting’s NHRIC-504QAT recessed lighting housing, you don’t need any clearance between the housing and the ceiling insulation. The light fixture can have a direct contact with the ceiling insulation.
