Nora lighting line voltage cylinder compatibility with halo track

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Your website mentions that Nora Lighting Line Voltage Flatback Cylinder - NTH-102 can be used with 1-circuit and 2-circuit track lighting systems. Is your product able to derive current from both circuits (my choice of either #1 or #2)?

I am asking this because I have recently run into heads which were marketed by your competitor as compatible with Halo 2 track but which could only derive current from circuit #1 of the track. How does one make the change from Circuit 1 to Circuit 2 on your track heads? Thank you in advance, for your consideration and assistance.

Answer: All Nora Lighting track head can be used on either 1-circut or 2-circut track system. The track head adaptor comes with a lever that can be pushed up and down to adjust on the power bars on the rail. We have send you a document that will help you understand the mechanism better.

Track lighting fixtures to be placed in the kitchen

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

We would like to install track lighting in our kitchen, but would like to use fixtures that accept standard incandescent bulbs (rather than halogen bulbs). We’ve seen such fixtures in displays at local hardware stores, but they are display only and the store can’t order them from the supplier for us. We would like to be able to use attractive globes, in addition to being able to use standard bulbs. Do you sell such products?

Answer: We do have incandescent pendant lights available that you can also affix to a track. Tech Lighting, is a manufacturer that we carry that specializes in track systems and incandescent pendants coincidentally. You can click on this link to see our lighting fixtures:
http://search.arcadianlighting.com/ResultBeta.aspx?find=tech+incandescent+pendants.

If you need any help putting together a track lighting system, we would be more than happy to help.

Nora lighting track lights lamping question

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Can I use an X-10 lamp module to control a track lighting with multiple (say 4) Nora Lighting Barndoor Low Voltage Track Light - NTL-208 heads? The X-10 lamp modules provide solid-state dimming and on/off. I’ve used one successfully with another 12V transformer and light system, but it’s time to replace it all with barn door lights.

Answer: Nora Lighting has confirmed back that there is an electronic, low voltage transformer in the NTL-208. The NTL-208 is rated to a max. of 50W Halogen, so it will work with a electronic, low voltage dimmer.

We are not familiar with the X-10 lamp module. We would recommend that you verify with the manufacturer for the X-10 lamp module and see if they can work with the electronic, low voltage transformer from the NTL-208.

Track lighting system inquiry

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I have a 6′ sola rail halogen track lighting system with 5 lamps in my bathroom above the vanity. The product stated not to install in a bathroom but the bathroom is fairly large so we decided to try it. However, 1 year later the lights have gone out and it is not working. I am assuming it is due to humidity affecting the transformer. I like the look of the track and would like to replace it with something similar. What options do you recommend for installing in the bathroom?

Answer: We are not very familiar with the Sola brand. However, a couple of manufacturer’s that we carry called Tech Lighting and LBL Lighting have track systems. They advise that their tracks can be used in a bathroom so long as there is good ventilation and the lighting is not placed directly over humid areas (i.e a shower ceiling).

Looking for a flexible connector suitable for track lighting

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Greetings. I am looking to purchase a flexible conncetor to connect my older track lighting with the new. Will your product work?

Answer: Please advise that our track accessory from Nora Lighting is only compatible to a 3-wire Halo track system. If your track is not a 3 wire system, then it’s not compatible.

Track lighting inquiry

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I am looking for track lighting that will be plugged into an outlet. When I shop your store online how do I tell if a certain track light can be plugged in or must have a junction box?

Answer: The track lights that we carry are 3-wire Halo compatible lights from Nora Lighting:

http://www.arcadianlighting.com/track-lighting.html - lighting fixture
http://www.arcadianlighting.com/track-lighting-system-accessories.html - track accessory

For feeding the power to the track, you can use either the electrical outlet plug in version:
3-Wire Halo-Compatible Cord and Plug Set - NT-321

or you can feed the power thru the electrician junction box using these examples:

3-Wire Halo-Compatible Floating Canopy Feed - NT-307
3-Wire Halo-Compatible Live End Feed with Canopy - NT-311

3-Wire Halo-Compatible Live End Feed with Canopy - NT-352

Nora lighting halo compatible track question

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

I want to know if the power box is in the middle, or on the left or right side of the track from Nora Lighting?

Answer: The electrical junction box can be up at the ceiling, anywhere along the track. You just need to pick out the correct component to connect the track to the junction box.

Question regarding sola rail kit by Tech lighting

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I recently purchased Sola Rail Kit. I would like to bend the track into a “wave” pattern. I had the idea to cut the pattern out on a sheet of plywood (creating a template), and then bend the track around the edge of the template. My question is, will this work? And how can I create an even line when I am drawing out the “wave” stencil. If I draw it freehand I know I won’t be happy with the result.

Answer: In general, your methodology should work because you are bending the rail against the round surface area (so there should not have any kink). If you would like to confirm this, you can also call Tech / Tiella Lighting technical support directly at toll free 800-522-531.

Nora lighting halo compatible track adapter

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Will this 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Outlet Adapter - NT-327 fit any standard 3-wire track? If not, what will it fit in?

Answer: According to Nora Lighting (the manufacturer), outlet adapter (NT-327) will only work on HALO compatible track systems.

Question regarding Tiella sola rail kit

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Hi. I’d like to use the Tiella Sola Rail Kit (800RAL5) with a dimmer. The Tiella installation guide says that it can be used with a standard incandescent dimmer. What I’d like to do is have a 150w track kit (with 7 - 20 watt Sola lamps) and a 100w track (2 Terra pendant lights) switched to a single gang box and also be dimmable. Enter the Lutron’s Dual Dimmer switch (MA-L3L3-WH). Can this work? Can you explain Tiella saying it is ok to use with a standard incandescent dimmer but most switch manufacturers say that a low voltage electronic dimmer must be used? I really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks in advance.

Answer: You can still use the regular incandescent dimmer to control the electronic transformer for the Tiella Sola Rail Kit. The only minor disadvantage is that you might run into a higher risk of shortening the lifespan of the electronic transformer because it takes a bigger toll on the transformer when you run it with incandescent dimmer. We are also told by our sales rep for Tech / Tiella Lighting that during the last 8 years of her service, she did NOT have any problems when a customer uses incandescent dimmer. Of course, you can always use the low voltage electronic dimmer if you don’t mind the higher pricing.

As for the incandescent dimmer itself, its lifespan would not be affected. If you are interested to purchase the Lutron 1p 300w Dualdimmer (MA-L3L3-WH), your cost is $60 apiece, and the Tiella Sola Rail Kit 5 head $217.50.

Nora Lighting track lighting inquiry

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I am interested in the 6 FT 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Track (NT-303) in silver and Stockholm Line Voltage Track Light (NTH-620S) both from Nora Lighting. I would like to make sure these are compatible and is there any additional hardware, power coupling, or adapter needed to tie it into a standard electrical junction box? The junction box is ceiling mounted and the intent is to power the track in the center of its length.

Answer: The track and the track lighting fixture are both compatible. To completely answer your question, here are our product recommendations along with their links for your track. We are not quite certain what quantities you need so we put the items here.

1. Nora Lighting Stockholm Line Voltage Track Light - NTH-620S. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nth-620s.html

2. Nora Lighting 6 FT 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Track - NT-303. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nt-303.html

3.Nora Lighting 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Floating Canopy Feed - NT-307*** This canopy will allow you to feed power anywhere along the track as opposed to an end feed which limits your options of placement. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nt-307.html

The track comes with all the mounting hardware that it needs. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

LBL lighting halo track compatible pendant light

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I am interested in purchasing two of the Clay I Contemporary Mini Pendant Light (HS306). However, I would like to attach them to a Juno track. When I was at a lighting store, I was told that I’d need a Fushion Jack (700-)? Do you sell these or do I select one of the options under “mount” on the order form? I appreciate any advice.

Answer: As per LBL Lighting (the manufacture), they DO NOT have a Juno adaptor. Hence, these pendant lights can not be attached to a Juno track. The adaptor they have is compatible with the Halo Track.
