Nora Lighting track lighting inquiry

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I am interested in the 6 FT 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Track (NT-303) in silver and Stockholm Line Voltage Track Light (NTH-620S) both from Nora Lighting. I would like to make sure these are compatible and is there any additional hardware, power coupling, or adapter needed to tie it into a standard electrical junction box? The junction box is ceiling mounted and the intent is to power the track in the center of its length.

Answer: The track and the track lighting fixture are both compatible. To completely answer your question, here are our product recommendations along with their links for your track. We are not quite certain what quantities you need so we put the items here.

1. Nora Lighting Stockholm Line Voltage Track Light - NTH-620S. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nth-620s.html

2. Nora Lighting 6 FT 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Track - NT-303. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nt-303.html

3.Nora Lighting 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Floating Canopy Feed - NT-307*** This canopy will allow you to feed power anywhere along the track as opposed to an end feed which limits your options of placement. http://www.arcadianlighting.com/nt-307.html

The track comes with all the mounting hardware that it needs. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

LBL lighting halo track compatible pendant light

Monday, December 17th, 2007

I am interested in purchasing two of the Clay I Contemporary Mini Pendant Light (HS306). However, I would like to attach them to a Juno track. When I was at a lighting store, I was told that I’d need a Fushion Jack (700-)? Do you sell these or do I select one of the options under “mount” on the order form? I appreciate any advice.

Answer: As per LBL Lighting (the manufacture), they DO NOT have a Juno adaptor. Hence, these pendant lights can not be attached to a Juno track. The adaptor they have is compatible with the Halo Track.

LBL lighting rigid standoff for sloped ceiling

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I am preparing a design for my house using flexible rail low voltage lighting. The ceiling is a sloped cathedral design (about 16 degrees). Do you have any tips on using the LBL Lighting standoffs with the “self drilling hangers”? The screws appear to be plastic lag screws. Will they hold in dry wall for the long haul?

Answer: Yes. The anchor screws of the standoff can hold on to the dry walls for the long haul. For your sloped ceiling, please the pick Telescoping Rigid Standoff (HANGER-ADJ) with ball joint (+$28). For your reference, we have attached the spec sheet for the single circuit monorail system. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Question regarding Nora Lighting’s track adapter

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

For this 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Pendant Track Adapter - NT-317, how do you secure it to the pendent light? My pendant lights are single wire surrounded by insulation. Also will they support halogen lamps? Do you know off hand what I would need to achieve this?

Answer: We have attached the installation manual for the Nora lighting track adapter. You will also need to order the strain relief, as you can see on the Strain Relief drop down right below the pricing for the NT-317. As for the Halogen, we believe you are referring to low voltage 12V halogen. If so, then this adapter will NOT work. Because this adapter can only work with 120V line voltage pendant lights. Currently, we do not offer any track adapter with an integral transformer to adapt low voltage pendant lighting fixture.

Tiella monorail track compatible pendant lights

Monday, October 15th, 2007

I have a Tiella monorail track and transformer. Are your tech lighting pendant lights compatible with the Tiella monorail. Are most lights compatible with all rail systems?

Answer: Yes. You can hang Tech Lighting pendant lights on your Tiella track system. You will need to purchase Tiella Rail Monopoint Connector (800RLCHED) to be able to adapt the Tiella rail. This rail adapter will have the female threaded collar to receive the male jack from the pendant cord. And then just order the Tech Lighting pendant light, whose model number starts off as “700FJ” which comes with the male jack / plug.

Nora Lighting replacement part

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I am planning to order a Nora Lighting product. Please let me know if you sell NRS90-n14S, a non-powered 4″ ceiling connector. Thanks.

Answer: Nora Lighting has discontinued NRS90-n14S and replaced it with 4” Straight / Sloped Ceiling Connector (NRS90-N74), which we do carry on our site.

Nora Lighting Halo Track Lighting System Question

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I have replaced the canopy of my Halo track system once and now it is not working again. I am looking for a replacement at a lower cost because it is getting expensive to maintain this particular track system. Will your Nora lighting Halo canopy feed NT-307 work on my track lighting system?

Answer: The Nora Lighting 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Floating Canopy Feed (NT-307) would not work. It can only replaced the Halo L909.

Under Cabinet Lighting or Track Lighting option?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I am enjoying your website. I have an old kitchen with poor lighting and I am interested in under cabinet lighting options. Does your company handle such lighting? I am wondering if installing a track lighting track would be an option, then I would be able to plug in different light fixtures. No doubt this isn’t a good idea, because the cabinet doesn’t clear the counter by enough space, but it is an intriguing thought. Would someone there be able to tell me if this is too odd to consider?

Answer: The idea is possible, but not the most practical due to higher budget needs and spacing requirement. Typically with under cabinet lighting, the light sources are hidden due to limited amount of space available, and you do not necessarily want to see the under cabinet lights themselves. However, we have seen people install miniture version of track lights or monorail under the cabinets. If you do some working at the cabinet area or have decorative pieces that you want to high light, then you might consider that. At this time, we don’t sell mini track lights or mini monorail lighting. However, that is in the plans and we should have them available later this year; but again, such application is unconventional.

If budget and spacing is an issue, we would just stick with the traditional under cabinet lighting in either fluorescent or LED technology that can change colors.

Nora Lighting Pendant Track Adapter Question

Friday, September 21st, 2007

The description for Nora Lighting 3-Wire Halo-Compatible Pendant Track Adapter refers to a strain relief. Is this a strain relief that can support a round 3-wire cord? We want to hang a medium based socket and lamp shade over dining tables. Would you have these sockets as well?

Answer: Yes. The strain relief can support a rounded 3-wire cord. However, the cord diameter can not be larger than 1/4″ in diameter thickness. This pendant light track adapter and strain relief can only hold pendant up to 10 lbs. max. Unfortunately, we don’t have any of those sockets that you are interested at.

Nora Lighting Low Voltage Track Lighting Questions

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Hi. We’re remodeling our bathroom. This is a 10′ x 12′ space overall with a skylight and 2 2′ x 3′ frosted glass windows. We have 2 junction boxes within 6″ of the ceiling on adjacent walls.

We are considering center feeding 2 6′ natural finish halo tracks (one on each wall) with 2 natural finish Nora NTL-213’s on one side (to aim across the room into a walk in shower with 2 60 watt floods) and 2 Nora Lighting NTL-213’s 20 watt spots to highlight a antique dresser under the fixture. We plan 4 Wireback Low Voltage Track Light’s over the 8′ granite sink with 2 40 watt semi floods aiming down (and maybe across) and 2 60 watt floods washing the ceiling.

Question 1: Are these Nora Lighting Wireback Low Voltage Track Light suitable for wall mounting as described?
Question 2: What parts do we need to order for the track lighting system? 2 x 6′ H natural track + (?) feed / ends?
Question 3: Does this seem to be enough light for this space?

Answer: Hello. With regards to your first question, the NTL-213 is suitable for a wall mounted track. It is not a terribly large fixture, so weight of the track light fixtures would not be an issue for wall mounting.

2. You will need few items for your Track Lighting System, providing that you are setting up two systems flush to the wall, as you described with the two junction boxes. You would need a power feed for each system (2 in this case). We would recommend the NT-307 Floating canopy feed or the NT-352 Live end feed with canopy. The floating canopy feed (NT-307) would give a little more flexibility on where to put the track since it doesn’t necesarily need to be mounted on the end of the track.
End caps are included with each track. If you plan on connecting your systems you would get a connector suited to your needs whether it would be a straight connector or a flexible one. Standoffs are not necesary if you are putting it flush to the wall, as you can just screw it in. If you do want standoffs, we usually recommend putting one every 3 feet.

3. In reviewing your lighting plan, you will be able to see fairly well, as if you turn all the track lights on, it’s a total of 380W. However, if the lady of the house needs to put makeup on, she might not have enough light in front of the mirror. You might have to add more light fixtures, which is very easily done with track lighting and you can just purchase additional track light fixtures later should you find there is not enough light.

Nora Lighting Pendant Light Mounting Option

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Hi. I want to purchase three of the Andromeda Art Glass Pendant Light by Nora Lighting. I want all of them attached to my existing Monorail Lighting System in the ceiling. What mounting option should I order?

Answer: Hello. If you already have the Nora Monorail Lighting, most people pick the following mounting options:
Mount: NRS19-450S: Monorail 120V, 8.5′ cord, 40W G9 bulb (+$28)
The NRS19-450S comes with monorail adapter, 8.5′ cord and 40W G9 bulb. Please note that G9 bulb gives off very diffused, ambient light.

For focused light with MR16 Halogen lamp, the mounting option is;
Mount: NRS34-450S: Monorail 12V, 8.5′ cord, 50W MR16 bulb (+$75)
NRS34-450S has 8.5′ cord, 50W 12V MR16 Halogen, and an integral 75W transformer on the monorail adapter.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Halo Power Trac Compatibility with Nora Lighting

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

First off, thanks! Your site has great information and has answered a lot of questions no one else could! But I am still confused on one point.

I have Halo Power Trac with something very close to the Nora Lighting Low Voltage Track Lights - NTL-2220 with the seperate transformer. It looks like I can replace those heads with something like the Nora Lighting Spike I Low Voltage Track Lights - NTL 305S (and the accessory colored glass cones). But are my options that limited? Can I use the NT-317 track adapter with the existing Power Trac to open up my options to pendant lighting?

Answer: First, if you are not using the Nora Lighting transformer NTL-2200 , then I am NOT sure if your transformer can adapt to Nora Lighting light fixtures.

NTL-2200 can only work with Nora fixture in the 2000 series (4 digits), such as the Nora Lighting Pinchback Low Voltage Track Light - NTL 2211, the Nora Lighting Gimbal Ring Low Voltage Track Light - NTL 1107 and the Nora Lighting Cylinder Low Voltage Track Light - NTL 2203.

At this time, Nora Lighting doesn’t offer any light fixture similar to the NTL-305S in the 2000 series (4 digits) that can work the NTL-2200 transformer. You would just have to order the NTL-305S directly, which comes with both transformer and fixture head for your Halo track system.

Lastly, we don’t think the existing Power Trac can work with NT-317. The NT-317 pendant adapter and strain relief (NRA-84, NRA-85, NRA-84S) can only work with the 120V line voltage pendant lights.
