How to Cleaning Your Light Fixtures and Lamps

To clean your lamps or lighting fixtures, our vendors have recommended the following:

Before cleaning any shade or lamp body, make sure the light is turned off. If applicable, disconnect the power source (unplug from outlets).

For lamps or lighting fixture with fabric shade:
To keep the dust off, wipe the shade gently with a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster.

For Tiffany lamps, lighting fixtures, or lamps with with art glass:
To clean off handprints, apply mild glass cleaner with a soft cloth and wipe gently. Avoid using powders or abrasive pads. Rinse with warm water but don’t soak for a prolonged period of time. Using a soft, dry cloth to dry the glass shade immediately after washing.

For lighting fixtures hanging near cooking areas in kitchens that may have heavy layers of greasy buildup or dirt, lighting manufacturers recommend Mr. Clean Top Job®.

Never clean hand-painted glass in the dishwasher.
